2007 Calvin & Chapel Ringers Handbell Tour
Germany and the Czech Republic

Photos from Days 5 and 6      Previous day      Next day      Return to Tour Summary

Hi everyone!

We made it to Prague safe and sound last night after a very full day of traveling and rain and fun. We toured the Potsdam Castle which had majestic gardens and the most fun thing...huge slippers to put over our shoes to keep the floor clean. Most of us were so enthralled by sliding across huge palace floors that we didn't pay much attention to our guide. ;) Actually, our guide was wonderful, and we learned a lot about Frederick the Great and how he changed Germany. Then we made our way to Wittenburg where we saw the two churches Martin Luther preached at, the door where the ninety-five theses were nailed, and the house where Luther lived. Emily got a postcard after a failed attempt to find a sweatshirt with Wittenberg on it. We searched diligently but to no avail.

We spent the four-hour drive playing cards, laughing with the bus driver, then staring out the window as we crossed the Czech border right as the sun was coming down. The hills became larger, and the sun set behind them casting a calm light over the valleys and little towns. We were in awe.

Armen, our bus driver, did an amazing job getting us to our hotel, and we are loving the spacious rooms.

Today we went to the Prague Castle where we were right in time to see the changing of the guards. We then proceeded to take pictures with the guards, and to our amazement, our fun antics did not change the guards rigid facial expressions one bit. Rob and Delan might have cracked them a little. After our castle experience we headed to the center of Prague and sent everyone out onto Wenceslas Square where all the shopping and eating is found. Everyone had good food and found neat things to take home. Some ventured to the Charles Bridge and took a picture for our Charles. Speaking of Charles, Charles and Rebecca are having a great time. Rebecca is the master planner and has been amazing at making sure all the details are worked out as we go along. Charles has been a phenomenal "drill sergeant" and so far, things have gone very smoothly. The trip has been wonderful.

We are now back at the hotel for dinner and some rest time before our Ghost Tour tonight. Everyone is excited. We also owe a huge thanks to Robbie who naviagted us through the crazy Czech public transportation system!

Pictures of our latest adventures will be put up when we get back to Germany, and I can use my own computer to download the pictures.

Everyone says hello and again...sends their love.
