Hi Bell Parents and Friends,
After a well-deserved night's sleep at our host's homes, we returned to
St. Mary's Church to play for their Sunday morning service led by the Rev. Dr.
Michael Hereward-Rothwell (who is also Chaplain to
Queen Elizabeth).
It was an excellent, but long service with a Baptism, Communion, and three
bell pieces. Our ringers were excellent. The good night's sleep did
wonders!
After the service, we were served another excellent meal by the church.
Thank you, ladies! Then we changed into our casual clothes, loaded the
bus and were off to
Windsor Castle.
We had a wonderful day. Queen Elizabeth was in residence, but was a bit
ill with the flu. Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied
castle in the world.
After the castle, we had time for a walk through the town with shopping
and dinner. Then we boarded the bus to return to the hotel. It has been
a glorious day. All are doing well and enjoying
London.
I have a lot of pictures. I'll send them to Delaine soon for posting on
the webpage.
George
See Note from Judy:
This is from Judy: I decided after this morning that I would love being a
high Anglican -- the service was sooooo very beautiful and there were nine
hymns!! Can you imagine our congregation singing nine hymns? The vicar
is the personal chaplain of
Queen Elizabeth, and the chapel is named for
Queen Mary,
the present queen's great-great grandmother. I was totally moved by this
service and so proud of the kids -- they played stunningly. The church was
built in 940 A.D., and contianed in the crypts are many ancient noted people.
It was a worshipful and totally spiritual beginning of our trip. Everyone
is fine -- we had one small stomach ache this morning, but it was gone in a
half hour. And all else is great -- thank you all for your prayers.
Love, Judy
