Hi Parents,
Getting internet access has been a bit challenging. Fortunately,
today in
Arendal,
Dawn & I were able to use the Arendal Library to send e-mail reports
for Day 3 - Part B and Day 4.
However, we were unable to send pictures from Days 3
& 4. After our boat tour this morning (see
below), I was able to access an internet cafe and send pictures from
Days 3 & 4 to our
web team. Hopefully, Delaine and team will get the pictures up
soon. (Thanks Web Team!)
Our homestays went very well. We met Pastor Halvard Myhrn, his
brother, and two friends at the
Arendal
Harbor this morning. We boarded their four boats for a trip to the
island of Mølen, an island that was important to the early
sea-farers of southern
Norway.
It was rather windy and chilly. So, we decided not to swim and went
with "Plan B". After a snack lunch on the island, half went fishing
on two of the boats. The "non-fishers" went back into
Arendal.
(That allowed me this internet access - whew! ;-).
We will meet at 4:30 to go to Pastor Halvard's brother's house for
a barbeque dinner.
Tell you more later.
George
Part 2:
We had a wonderful barbeque at Leif Myhren's house. Leif is Pastor Halvard
Myhren's brother. Leif, who is an expert chef, barbequed hotdogs, hamburgers,
and pork. He also grilled the fish that our "fishers" caught earlier. Then
for dessert, he served baked bananas with chocolate and ice cream. It was
delicious!
Then we returned to our homestays for a good night's sleep.
