2003 Calvin & Chapel Ringers Handbell Tour
Norway

Previous day     Return to Tour Summary     Next day

Hi All,

After a much needed good night's sleep, we began our day by touring the famous Vigeland Park. This park contains 212 granite statues of humans of all ages. The tallest is a monolith of some one hundred people all trying to get to the top. Our visit was shortened by a little rain.

Then we went up the mountain outside Oslo to see the Ski Jump that was built for the 1952 Olympics. We got a very nice view of Oslo up there.

Then we did a quick stop at the Viking Ship Museum and a castle and fortress. The rest of the afternoon was spent at leisure walking and shopping on the Carl Johans street. Some of us checked out the beautiful Dom Cathedral.

We will be going to the American Lutheran Church for a concert this evening and playing for a church service there tomorrow morning.

Everyone is doing well and enjoying Norway. I sent 7 pictures which should be on the web page soon.

More later,

Dawn & George

More from the Sumralls...

The American Lutheran Church (ALC) served a tasty dinner with a curry soup. After dinner and a devotional, the bells played for a small, but very appreciative audience.

Then we went back to the hotel to unwind and pack for Arendal. Norway is interesting, in that it doesn't get dark until after 11:30 PM. So, going to sleep "early" is sometimes difficult.
