2002 Calvin & Chapel Ringers Handbell Tour
Colorado and Wyoming

Hi Handbell Parents,

At 7 AM, we met at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Steamboat Springs. After saying "good bye" to our gracious homestay hosts, we departed for Jackson Hole, WY. It was a long (7 1/2 hour) trip. The first 5 hours were across rather desolate landscape. The kids watched 2 videos. We stopped for a quick lunch in Rock Springs, WY.

We arrived at the Day's Inn in Jackson at 3 PM. There is a lot going on in Jackson Hole this weekend. We had 3 hours to relax, go into town, and/or get our supper before going to St. John's Episcopal Church in Jackson for a 7:30 concert. There was a small, but very appreciative audience for the concert. Both bell groups did an excellent job. After the concert, one gentleman in the audience made arrangements for all of us to have ice cream at Haagen Dazs.

After we arrived at the Day's Inn, Judith Werner received a message that, due to some conflicts, our 15 minute handbell ringing segment had been cancelled. This was initially raqther upsetting. However, after looking at the "pros and cons", it gives us more flexibility.

What we plan to do is to have breakfast in the morning at Judy's niece Lauren Curry's house. After breakfast, Lauren and her husband David will take us in a short hike in the Grand Teton National Park. Then we will have some time on our own before the fireworks tomorrow evening. Then we are scheduled to leave for Denver very early (1:00 AM?) on Friday morning in order to get to the airport in time for our 3:06 flight to Newark.

Depending on how things go, this may be my last e-mail to you. You should be very proud of your children. They were terrific. Dawn and I are very glad to have been able to travel with them.

George
