Hi Bell Parents,

On Sunday, June 30th, we were up early again for our trip to the Air Force Academy where the Calvin and Chapel Handbell Ringers were the featured musicians at the 9:00 and 11:00 Protestant Traditional Service. The Chapel at the Academy is a beautiful modern structure that houses a Protestant chapel, a Catholic chapel, and a Jewish synagogue. At both services, each handbell group rang two numbers for the prelude to the service. Each group also played their "memorized" piece during the service. After the 11:00 service, Dr. Joseph Galema, the Cadet Chapel Music Director, gave us a tour of the Academy Chapel. Then we went to the AF Academy Visitor Center where we had lunch and saw a short movie about the Academy.

We then went to the Garden of the Gods which has many fascinating red rock formations, some of which are over 100' high. After checking out the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center, our bus driver drove us through the park where we saw the "Kissing Camels" and "Balanced Rock" and other fascinating and beautiful formations.

We then went to the Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs for our evening concert.We were served a great meal by members of the congregation. The ringers then gave their concert to a very appreciative audience. Then we met our homestay hosts and went to their homes for a well deserved night of sleep.

Tomorrow, I think we are headed up to Denver for a somewhat more leisurely day prior to our concert at Arvada tomorrow evening. I'll give you the details tomorrow evening.
